Every summer Woodside sends a team of missionaries to the Dominican Republic for a short-term mission project. We partner with the Foundation for Peace, an organization with staff, facilities and experience in the DR. Our goal is to work hand in hand with the local church to create vibrant, sustainable communities that include:
- Church - for spiritual health
- Medical clinic - for physical health
- School - for intellectual health
- Clean water - for overall health
On June 23rd we traveled to Santo Domingo, with 38 missionaries, for our ninth 10-day trip to the DR. This trip is open to adults, families and senior high youth.
This summer we continued building the church we started in 2009 in the city of Haina. In addition to construction of the foundation and walls of the church we conducted a medical clinic, run a VBS program, did home visits, attended and led worship, played with the children and continued to develop deep relationships with our Dominican friends—all in the name of Jesus.
New in 2010 was an outdoor street evangelism Compaigna in Haina where many new believers professed their faith in Jesus Christ. We also initiated a partnership with the non-profit organization Samaritan's Feet to change lives of the impoverished and underprivileged by teaching them a Biblical story of faith, hope and love, demonstrating these truths by touching them by washing their feet, and then treating them to a new pair of shoes.

Planning for the 2011 trip will begin in January. Meetings are held monthly. If you're interested in future trips, email Bruce Jones or visit the Foundation For Peace website.
