Baptism

Woodside loves to welcome children into God’s family through baptism. We view it as a partnership. During the baptism ceremony the parents and the congregation promise to teach the child to love and follow Jesus. This partnership is so essential for the spiritual growth of the child we ask parents to become part of the Woodside community. To do this we recommend attending worship, enrolling kids in our children and youth ministries, participating in mission projects and/or joining a Growth Group. To arrange for a baptism, the family can contact the church office (215-493-4145) or email Pastor Doug. He’ll discuss with you the purpose of baptism and work with you to select a service on a Sunday for the baptism that works for your family. Presbyterians view the whole church as the godparent but it’s fine if you wish to select godparents for your child. We encourage you to invite them to the service and have them stand with you. We also baptize teens and adults who make a profession of faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior if they were not previously baptized.

Weddings

A good marriage begins on the foundation of Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:24-25). As a husband and a wife each grow closer to Jesus, they also grow closer to one another. For this reason, we feel it is crucial for a couple to receive the love, support and encouragement of a church family that will help them grow closer to the Lord. That’s why we ask couples to become part of the Woodside community. To do this we recommend attending worship, participating in mission projects and/or joining a Growth Group. To select the day for the wedding and begin the planning process, the bride and groom can call the church office (215-493-4145) or email Pastor Doug. He typically has three premarital counseling sessions, in person or online, with the couple before the wedding day.

Membership

Woodside does not require membership. From the first moment you are here, you are in, you belong, you’re one of the family. Wherever you are on the journey of following Jesus, we want to help you take the next step. If you would like to learn how Woodside can help you follow Jesus and receive spiritual strength, attend The Way - a four-week dinner and discussion group. You’ll meet new friends and start or restart your journey with Jesus.
