An Overview of Woodside and Who We Seek

Calling Our Next Pastor

When Pastor Doug announced his plan to retire in 2027, Woodside’s leaders chose to pursue a seamless transition. Our desire is to avoid a loss of momentum during a lengthy interim between pastors. We also want to facilitate the transfer of trust and leadership from our current pastor, who has served here 32 years, to the future pastor. The length and steps in the succession will be worked out with the incoming pastor. We want to give our new pastor the best possible launch for a long and fruitful ministry.

Woodside is teaming up with Vanderbloemen and Associates, a national church staffing firm. To apply for this position, please send your Ministry Discernment Send questions to Jeff Bachman at

Steps in the search process

(As of November 2026)

Your Pastor Nominating Team (PNT) was formed in January to search for the individual the Lord has chosen to lead Woodside. This search supports our mission to make disciples of Jesus who love God, grow in grace, and share with others.

Preparing for the Search

  • Over the past nine months, we have laid the groundwork for the search through several important steps:

  • Surveyed the Elders, leaders and disciples of the congregation.

  • Formed the Pastor Nominating Team.

  • Selected Vanderbloemen, an executive recruiting firm, to support the search.

  • Submitted the Ministry Discernment Profile – The position and church description required by the Presbyterian Church.

  • Established a comprehensive interview process.

  • Worked with Vanderbloemen to clarify the qualities we believe will best equip our next pastor to serve and lead Woodside in pursuing our vision for growth and a robust outreach ministry.

    Candidate Review and Next Steps

Currently Vanderbloemen has begun introducing potential candidates to the PNT. Over the next several months, we will consider candidates and begin interviews.

    How You Can Pray

Please join us in praying for wisdom, discernment, and unity as we seek to identify the individual the Lord has chosen to lead Woodside. Your prayers are an important part of this shared journey as we move forward together.

    In Christ,

    The Pastor Nominating Team
